What we are trying to achieve

The Lambeth Community Tennis Initiative is a program run by Lifetime Tennis in partnership with the ‘Give It Your Max’ tennis charity. The idea behind the initiative is to create partnerships with Lambeth schools that are motivated to have tennis become an integral part of the annual school sports curriculum.

We deliver in schools coaching during PE, while at the same time helping schools (and teachers) become proficient in delivering tennis independently. We also provide extra opportunities for students from partner schools to participate in tennis outside of regular school hours through our subsidised after school and weekend clubs.

Our goal is to create a great first experience of tennis for young new players and to provide them with the foundations to continue to participate into adulthood. Almost all of the foundation skills we teach (including balance, coordination, agility, speed, spatial awareness, and focus) can be applied to a multitude of other sports and physical activities. Through this tennis program we are therefore hoping to contribute towards children developing the necessary skills and confidence which allows them to stay fit, healthy and active in the future.
